Dr. Wheat is a pilot, and we do first, second, and third class flight physicals as well as Basic Meds. We schedule them every day as appointments permit. They take about 30-45 minutes provided you do your portion of the form online. Here’s the easiest way:
The FAA MedXPress system allows anyone requesting an FAA Medical Clearance or Medical Certificate to electronically complete an application. Information entered into MedXPress is available to your FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) for review at the time of your medical examination.
NOTE: A medical examination by an AME is required to complete the medical clearance/certification process.
- Go to FAA MedXPress
- Create an account or login to your existing account
- Fill out your portion once you enter the site
- You will get a submitter number sent to your email address **please do this in plenty of time to receive your number as sometimes it may take up to 24 hours to get it I bring the submitter/confirmation number with you to the office.
If you have medical issues or need to have a consult prior to your actual FAA exam, please do not hesitate to set up a consult first. Our office staff is always happy to answer any questions you might have.
FAA Flight Physical Classes 1, 2, 3
Step 1) page 1 attachment: log on to website: https://medxpress.faa.gov
Step 2) page 1 attachment: if you have done this before, you may use your email address and password that you previously used and login. if this is your first time to use medxpress, then you will “request an account”
Step 3) page 2 attachment: when you request an account, you will need to fill in your name, email address, and answer the three security questions. you will also need to read the pilot’s bill of rights, mark the box saying you have read them, and submit.
Step 4) page 3 attachment: you should receive the page that says account request result. you should check your email often until you receive your temporary password. once you receive it, log on again using your email and your temporary password. follow the instructions they give you, fill out your portion of the flight form, submit it, and they will send you a submitter number. bring this number with you to your visit. please print the summary after you complete and bring with you to your physical.
If you do not get your submitter number, you will need to call the number on the page 3 attachment and ask for their help. we cannot complete your flight physical if you do not have a submitter number.
Please do all of this well ahead of your appointment as it does take time to get info from the FAA. if you need help during office hours, we will be glad to assist you and answer questions as we can.
